„It all started on an ordinary day. The phone rang and someone asked, „Would you like to go to a peace camp?“ I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I said yes and a great adventure began. At that camp I became a different person, stronger, more stable, more secure. As I believe there is a reason for all things, I think YU-Peace was given to me for a special reason. I met some wonderful people who I am still in contact with today. I realized that my thoughts and feelings were not wrong. So I was able to shake off many fears and became more courageous and determined. For the first time in my life I was in an environment where I could honestly say what I thought without fear of prejudice and rejection. I immediately felt a close connection with these people I had just met. We were united by a common goal: to make the world safer, more peaceful and better. I realized that there are still good people in the world! A year and a half later, I am grateful to the teacher who invited me. Grateful for all the wonderful people with their energy who make me feel good. True, no camp could take place this year, but the magic that was created in those camps and developed over the years lives on. Despite the pandemic, we met online and kept talking. Of course, a real meeting would have been nicer, but the most important thing is that the spirit of these meetings lives on. I look forward to new meetings and new people who, like me, will come out of this experience stronger and more determined.“
