In the beginning of July former Israeli and Palestinian participants of the womens*seminar did a political tour through the destroyed Palestinian village of Lifta and also visited the village of Ayn Karrim.
Lifta was one of the biggest villages in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) district until its occupation in 1948. All of its 3000 residents were forcibly displaced and their return to their own village, houses and lands was prevented by Israel.
Walking among the ruins and partly destroyed houses in the center of the village around the famous spring of Lifta, during the tour the participants learnt about the life in the village before 1948, its occupation and the Israeli policy afterward. The tour was accompanied by Umar al-Ghubari, a political educator and coordinator of Zochrot organization.
