Dear friends of Vacation from War,

So far, our planning for summer 2020 continues and we are hoping that the encounters and seminars will take place as planned:

In the former Yugoslavia, 120 young people will meet for in Basko Polje, Croatia, in June 2020. In addition, there will be peace camps for participants in the past first encounters and active members of the YU-Peace network, as well as weekend visits to Gornji Vakuf Uskoplije and Srebrenica.

In mid-July 2020, young men and women from Israel and Palestine will meet in Germany to engage in dialogue about the conflict and the occupation using the method of nonviolent communication.

At the beginning of August 2020, only women * from Palestine and Israel will meet in Walberberg near Cologne. They work with the tried-and-tested political narrative approach, which opens up an intensive examination of the conflict through personal stories, respective family stories and the collective narratives.

But of course we are also facing challenges in regard to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the dialogues and encounters in the countries of the former Yugoslavia as well as those for young adults from Israel and Palestine will of course only take place this summer if the situation is changing by then. We are currently monitoring developments from day to day and are in close contact with our local partners. Of course the health and safety of the participants and moderation teams is our top priority: Unfortunately, the weekend visit originally planned for April by 50 young activists from the YU-Peace network to Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje in the former Yugoslavia had to be canceled and is now postphoned. We will keep you up to date on further developments.
