„Between protest and despair“ describes the range of what many people in the countries of the former Yugoslavia feel about their (political) situation. The anger and disappointment of the people is reflected in the demonstrations that flare up again and again against the abuse of power and corruption and for an end to political despotism, most recently in connection with the Corona pandemic. Many of our partners feel strengthend by their involvement in YU-Peace and the possibility of countering nationalist propaganda and making a practical contribution to positive change in their countries: it encourages them not to give up despite the difficult situation.
This shows how important our work in the former Yugoslavia still is, especially now – even though the wars ended a long time ago.
